Sustainability is of paramount importance to O’Brien Fine Foods. We believe that by focusing on 3 Pillars: Better Sourced, Better Made and Better For You we can have a positive impact across our organisation and supply chain. Reducing our environmental footprint, improving animal welfare standards, putting our people first and supporting communities.

Better Sourced

We will continue to work with our suppliers to ensure the highest levels of quality and animal welfare, environmental & social standards, and locally sourced produce.

Better Made

We will continue to improve the way we operate, while maintain our traditional style and product quality, by reducing our environmental impacts, implementing lean techniques, providing a safe working environment.

Better for You

Build a more sustainable food system, by making foods for our consumers that are good for them and good for our planet.

Sustainability Origin Green

Member of Origin Green, the world’s only national Food and Drink Sustainability programme with set targets since 2014.

Sustainability FoodCloud

Partnered with Food Cloud in 2019 to combat Food Wastage as part of our sustainability efforts, ensuring tonnes of product went to those who needed it most instead of landfill sites.

Sustainability Renewable Energy

Our manufacturing sites are powered by renewable energy.

In 2017, we opened a wastewater treatment plant, treating water at our Timahoe site. Over 20 acres of wetlands were also constructed beside our Timahoe site to further treat water and increase biodiversity.

We regularly donate to our food charity partners, in 2020 we donated 44,000 meals to charity.

Sustainability Bord Bia

Our meat is 100% Irish Bord Bia approved from Irish farms. We are a member of the Bord Bia Sustainable Quality Pork Scheme.

At O’Brien’s Fine Foods we understand that we are living through very challenging and unpredictable times, the Covid Pandemic is proof of this. As the World changes we will strive to play our part on Climate Action and Social Equality and will continue to evolve our sustainability strategy, ensuring that we are always looking to do more.
